Cedro Creek Nature Trail, Part 3

April 22, 2021

I took a quick hike with Ash this afternoon after work on the Cedro Creek Nature Trail. This was my third time hiking this trail, first without Brandy. Without Brandy, I was able to extend myself to the end of the trail, my first time doing so.

All told, I made the entire hike, 1.9 miles, in 56 minutes. I felt I made a pretty good pace throughout the entirety of the trek, only having to stop a couple of times on the steepest inclines. Aside from those pauses, I did have to stop a couple times for Ash to do his business.

I’m very proud of what I was able to accomplish today, especially taking the hike after a full work day.

I only have a few pictures of this trip, mostly of Ash. There are plenty of other pictures of the trail on my post from my first time and second time on the trail. Make sure you check those out if you haven’t yet.

As always, thanks for stopping by, I appreciate you!

Planned Trip: Tinkertown, Burger Boy and (Maybe) a Hike to Sandia Peak

This morning on my way to my hike around the Sulphur and Cienega Hose Bypass Loop Trail, I noticed that Tinkertown is open. I decided right then and there that I was returning the next day.

Prepping for Utah

The Four Corners National Monument is a scant four hour drive from Albuquerque. Since meeting Brandy, we’ve made a trip to the area, to Cortez, Colorado, but never visited the monument, nor the other two states involved in the intersection, Utah or Arizona.

That changes this year.

Planned Trip: Sandia Tram, Ten3 Restaurant and a Hike on the 4 Seasons Nature Trail

Well, next weekend, April 24, I do indeed have plans with Alan to take the Sandia Tram up to the Ten3 restaurant and hike the 4 Seasons Nature Trail (weather permitting… the tram has been closed the last couple days due to high winds.) AllTrails has this listed as an easy half mile loop trail with a whopping 26 foot elevation gain. A short, flat hike for sure, but the trip is about more than the hike. It’s also about crossing another item off of my To-Do List. Even more importantly though, it’s about getting some time with Alan. And of course, we’ll finish the trip off with lunch at the restaurant. Looking at the menu, I already know what I’m going to get. If you read my post about the cuisine of New Mexico, you’ll know what I’m getting too.

If, for some reason, we’re unable to make that trip, I might see if he wants to do the Loop Trail I mentioned in my last Planned Hike post. I hope the winds die down by then though. The weather report currently says sunny with light winds at 11 MPH but this is Albuquerque so we won’t know for sure until we’re on our way there.

I’m very excited for this day trip. Being able to cross stuff off the list is very satisfying. Knowing I’m able to is so freeing.

As always, I appreciate everyone that visits my little corner of the internet. Stay tuned for some amazing things coming.

Why I Love New Mexico, Part One: The Cuisine

I’ve lived in California, Oregon, Florida and Nevada, and none of those states has a singular cuisine that is wholly its own. Today, in the first of a series of articles on why I love New Mexico, we’ll be exploring the cuisine that is identified as “New Mexican Cuisine.”

Planned Hike: Loop Trail via Access Road

I have a few more weeks before I move (three and a half or so) and because I don’t have a whole lot of stuff, packing is hardly going to take any time at all. Because of that, I don’t think I’ll even start until like the weekend of the 24-25 of April, leaving this weekend free for a couple hikes.

No Hike Sunday

Unfortunately, Brandy and I didn’t make it too far on the trail before we discovered it was a bit steep for both our tastes. Instead, we spent some time driving up to the Sandia Peak, then back down again.

On I-40, a rock smashed into the windshield of her Lexus causing a significant chip. That obliterated the serotonin she had built up on the peaceful drive up the east side of the mountain.

On the plus side, I was able to get a chip repair kit and make it almost completely unnoticeable.

Anyway, we will try a different, flatter trail this coming weekend!

See you out there!
