Final Wanderful Post

As I’d mentioned in posts past, I moved out of Brandy’s house on May 7th. I took the following week off from work through the 14th, only to immediately leave for the camping trip from my previous post. After being gone for the 3 day weekend, I immediately launched back in to work and have been struggling to find routine, not to mention continue unpacking, decorating and just trying to survive.

I finally got to a reasonable place to where I could sit in my studio and go through the new website, WanderingNewMexican.com, and fix all of the links that had broken. Well… I didn’t fix them. I put in place a workaround that kinda fixed them but not really…

Anyway. The new site is up and running. The camping post I made yesterday will be the last post on this website.

Head over to WanderingNewMexican.com, find the newsletter subscription box on the home page and stay up to date on all the adventures I have from here on out!

As always, thanks for stopping by, I appreciate you!

See you on the other side!

Camping: Redondo Campground, Santa Fe National Forest

May 21 – 23, 2021

Well, it’s official. Alan and I took our first camping trip over the weekend of . This was my first time ever tent camping and the first camping I’ve done at all in decades.

It was a life changing experience.

Moving

As I mentioned in a few of my previous posts, I’ve moved out of Brandy’s house and into an apartment near UNM. I’ve spent the last four days or so just getting stuff moved in and have finally gotten my kitchen mostly settled and my bedroom almost completely finished (I just have to change the sheets, but I’ll be doing that Friday morning before I get my day started.)

In my efforts to try and maintain some semblance of sanity, I took some time Tuesday and once more hiked the Cedro Creek Nature Trail followed by a drive up to the Sandia Peak. I made this outing with Julia, a dear friend that I’ve known for several years now. I used to work with her at Presbyterian before she moved on to something bigger and better.

It was nice to take a break from the grind of packing, moving and unpacking, and to get back out to what I need.

Alan and I have finally cemented our camping plans; that trip will be coming up soon so watch for a trip report on that.

Also, I came to the realization that many of the links within my posts on www.wanderingnewmexican.com broke during the transition, so I’m going to have to go back and fix those before I can finalize the move.

I do apologize for my absence lately, but I’m sure you all understand. Things like keeping a roof over my head are bound to take priority over outings and posting on the blog.

Thanks for stopping by, as always, I appreciate you, and stay tuned for a camping report soon!

Forced Break

I definitely apologize for my absence lately folks. I’ve been busy packing up and preparing for the move that’s taking place starting tomorrow, Friday, May 7. I expect the actual move from Brandy’s house to pretty much last that day. That won’t mean I’m done though. I still have some things in my storage unit that I’ll need to get, like my pots and pans, some decor stuff that got stored away for the last year, my microwave, etc.

I took next week off of work so I could unpack, get settled, and get those trips to my storage unit done. I’m hoping I can get all settled down before the end of my time off of work so I can get in at least a hike, or a trip to the zoo, or something. We’ll see.

Either way, there will be some radio silence during this time. My computer at home is already taken down, I won’t be at work to post from here, and I simply refuse to blog from my phone.

Rest assured though, once I get unpacked and settled and everything, my adventures will resume.

And once more, I will be ending posts here as of May 15 and will be exclusively posting content on my new website, www.WanderingNewMexican.com. Please update your bookmarks accordingly.

As always, thanks again for stopping by. I appreciate you!

The Future of Wanderful

Greetings everyone, I hope this early Saturday morning finds you well! I’m sitting here with a fresh cup of coffee waiting for the sun to come up just a little bit more so I can leave for a short hike up to Travertine Falls.

I apologize for my recent absence for the last few days. Read on to find out where I’ve been.

Camping Trip: Coming Soon!

It has been decades since I’ve last been camping, and truth be told, I don’t know that I’ve ever been tent camping. The only camping trips I ever remember taking have been in a camper or trailer, and I was a little dude so I didn’t even really have to make the plans. I just kind of… tagged along.

Hopefully that changes in a few short weeks.

Jackery Portable Power Station Explorer 240: First Impressions

I suffer from obstructive sleep apnea, requiring the use of a BiPAP machine (since your going to ask, here’s how a BiPAP is different from a CPAP.) In contemplating potential power sources for its use while I camp, I landed on the Jackery Portable Power Station Explorer 240.

I ordered the battery on April 20 and it arrived 4 days later, on the 24th. I’ve had a chance to use it for a couple of nights; read on for my initial thoughts.
